i have the mail server as postfix nd the os is fedora12............

i tried doing this by using the ip addess of both the computers and entering in into /etc/hosts....nd then using the normal telnet command via which i send mails locally on my comp.......however it always gives me a statement in the end that connection closed by foreign host..........nd my mail is not delivered...........

m confused do i have to implement sme other functionality like dns server also to do this or sme other protocol like pop3 n all......or the approach which m adopting is correct...plz help...m stuck at this ......

You need a POP3/IMAP server

Hi apeksha0701,

SMTP server is used for handling outgoing mails. You need a POP3 server or IMAP server to handle incoming mails.
