fire fighting robot

i am presently working on a fire fighting robot, a robot that senses the source of a fire and extinguishes it. The sensor i used was an lm35dz. the sensor range is poor. Can anyone suggest a better sensor for my bot?

Fire fighting robots are

Fire fighting robots are great. Soon maybe there will be no need for firemen. Hope that does not happen. Well, robot production is a proof of technological advancement technically.
