Hello , this is my first time here and I am interested in the IR project.
I have a TSOP1230 IR receiver and I am trying to use it to decode may TV remote commands. My question is: How to I know in which frequency and which format the remote is transmitting?
Thanks

Usually TV remote controls emit pulses at 38Khz, A popular IR sensor for it is TSOP1738, where "38" at the end defines the frequency. To decode a remote control signal. Most TV remote controls follow the RC5 encoding a protocol developed by Phillips.
RC5 Encoding
Bi Phase Encoding.
The rc5 has a total of 14 bits with s0-s4 as address of the device and c5-c0 as command
I hope this helps.
thank you for the informative reply
No problem. Keep us updated with your work.
get the PCB layout for the project from http://robolabz.multiply.com/journal/item/21/Diptrace_Files_
i think that the express PCB and diptrace are best to draw the schematics but the software used by botskool is very good i want to know the name of the software used by botskool
